How many Layers do you have?

Have you ever felt like someone was wearing a mask around you? Like they weren’t showing their true selves, but instead putting on a facade to conform or impress others? The truth is, that many people hide who they really are for various reasons. Do you? why individuals feel, the need to conceal their authentic selves. People hide their true selves for various reasons. One common reason is fear of rejection or judgment from others. They may worry that showing their genuine identity will result in disapproval or ostracism, so they put on a mask to fit in with the crowd.

Another reason people hide who they really are is to avoid conflict. By concealing their true feelings and beliefs, individuals may be able to avoid uncomfortable disagreements with others and maintain a sense of peace. Some people also wear masks as a form of self-protection. Perhaps they’ve been hurt or rejected in the past, so they guard themselves by keeping their authentic selves hidden away. In some cases, societal expectations and norms can also play a role in why someone may choose to conceal aspects of themselves. For example, if someone feels like certain parts of their personality or background aren’t socially acceptable, they may suppress those traits and present themselves differently instead. Ultimately, it’s important to remember that everyone has different motivations for wearing a mask at times. It’s not always easy to reveal our most authentic selves – but doing so can lead to more meaningful connections and greater personal fulfillment over time. Well, that’s what I’ve been told lol. These days, I just prefer to express feelings and emotions through my writing and art. I wonder if I am alone in this way. -Freedom Mercado

The Wind Dancer: Little Shio’s Journey

In the heart of the rugged Draven Canyons, where the wind howled through narrow crevices and ancient stone monasteries clung to the cliffs, lived a young girl named Shio. She was no ordinary child. Raised by the Highland Monks, she had learned the secrets of Tai Chi and harnessed the power of the wind itself.

The Monastery of Whispers
Shio’s earliest memories were of the monastery—a place of tranquility and discipline. The monks taught her to move with grace, to channel her inner energy, and to listen to the whispers of the wind. They spoke of balance, both in body and spirit. Shio absorbed their teachings like a parched desert soaking up rain.

Her favorite spot was the Wind Garden—a circular courtyard surrounded by tall stone walls. There, she practiced her forms, her limbs flowing like silk in the breeze. The wind responded, lifting her off the ground, carrying her across the courtyard. The other monks watched in awe as she danced with the elements.

The Prophecy
One stormy night, an old monk named Master Jin revealed a prophecy. “Little Shio,” he said, his eyes clouded with age, “you are destined for greatness. The wind speaks of a dark force rising in the southern lands of Matu—the Dark Elves. They seek to plunge our world into eternal night.”

Shio listened intently. “What must I do, Master Jin?”

“You must journey south,” he replied. “Defeat the Dark Elves and restore the balance. Only then will the wind find peace.”

The Journey Begins
With a staff in hand and determination in her heart, Shio set off. The canyons whispered their farewells, and the wind carried her across vast deserts and dense forests. Along the way, she encountered mystical creatures—a sand serpent that tested her agility, a forest spirit that challenged her wisdom, and a hawk that guided her when she lost her way.

In the southern lands, she found the Dark Elves—a shadowy race with eyes like obsidian and hearts colder than ice. Their leader, Queen Lyra, wielded forbidden magic. Shio faced her in the moonlit glade, the wind swirling around them.

The Battle of Elements
Queen Lyra laughed. “A mere child dares to challenge me?”

Shio stood her ground. “I am the Wind Dancer. The wind is my ally.”

Their battle was fierce. Shio’s Tai Chi forms flowed seamlessly, deflecting Lyra’s dark spells. She summoned cyclones, twirling faster than the eye could follow. Lyra countered with shadows, but Shio danced through them, her movements a symphony of power.

Finally, Shio unleashed her ultimate technique—the Wind Lotus. She spun, gathering wind energy, and released it in a blinding burst. The Dark Queen screamed as the wind tore through her defenses. The balance was restored.

Legacy of the Wind Dancer
Shio returned to Draven Canyons, her victory celebrated by the monks. But she knew her journey wasn’t over. The wind still whispered secrets—the world was vast, and darkness lurked in hidden corners. written by Freedom Mercado

Whisper of the Wind: The Enigma of Acifra’s Black Mist Woods

In the heart of the ancient realm of Acifra, where the veil between reality and magic was thin, there existed a mysterious forest known as the Black Mist Woods. Its gnarled trees stood like sentinels, their twisted branches reaching for the heavens. The air within was thick with secrets, and the mist that clung to the ground whispered forgotten tales to those who dared to tread its shadowed paths.

And there, amidst the shifting fog, lived a solitary figure—the enigmatic Whisper of the Wind. His true name was lost to time, buried beneath layers of myth and legend. To the villagers of Acifra, he was a spectral guardian, a wraith-like presence who emerged only when darkness blanketed the land.

The villagers spoke of him in hushed tones, their eyes wide with awe and fear. They said he was ageless, his skin as pale as moonlight, and his eyes the color of storm clouds. His cloak billowed like wind-blown mist, and his footsteps left no trace upon the forest floor. Some claimed he was a spirit born from the very essence of the Black Mist Woods, while others believed he was a cursed wanderer seeking redemption.

Whisper of the Wind had but one purpose—to guide lost souls through the labyrinthine paths of the forest. For the Black Mist Woods were treacherous, shifting and rearranging themselves at will. Those who entered without guidance risked becoming hopelessly lost, their minds ensnared by illusions and their bodies swallowed by the ancient trees.

The villagers would seek him out when desperation drove them into the woods. Mothers with sick children, lovers torn apart by fate, and weary travelers—all came to Whisper of the Wind, their eyes pleading for salvation. He would appear, silent as a breeze, and beckon them to follow. His touch was cool and insubstantial, yet it anchored them to reality.

He never spoke, but his eyes held a depth of understanding. He knew their stories—their regrets, their desires, their hidden fears. And so, he led them through the shifting maze, his steps sure and unwavering. Sometimes, he would pause, listening to the rustling leaves or the distant cries of unseen creatures. Then, he would alter their course, avoiding pitfalls and traps that would have ensnared any mortal traveler.

Yet, for all his guidance, Whisper of the Wind remained an enigma. No one knew where he came from or why he chose to protect those who wandered into the Black Mist Woods. Some said he was bound by a forgotten oath, while others believed he sought redemption for a sin committed long ago. Perhaps he was both savior and penitent, caught in an eternal cycle of duty and remorse.

As the seasons changed, so did the forest. The mist thickened, and the trees whispered secrets of forgotten kingdoms, lost loves, and forbidden magic. Yet, through it all, Whisper of the Wind remained constant—a silent guardian, a spectral guide. His presence was a comfort to those who faced the darkness, for they knew that as long as he walked beside them, they would find their way home.

And so, the legend of Whisper of the Wind grew. Songs were sung, and children told bedtime stories of the pale figure who danced with shadows and spoke with the breeze. Some claimed to have glimpsed him beyond the forest, standing on the edge of reality, watching over Acifra like a silent sentinel.

But whether he was a spirit, a cursed wanderer, or something else entirely, one thing remained certain: Whisper of the Wind was the keeper of Acifra’s secrets, the guide through the labyrinth of the Black Mist Woods. And as long as lost souls sought solace within its dark embrace, he would continue to walk its hidden paths, forever bound to the enigma of Acifra. faced the darkness, for they knew that as long as he walked beside them, they would find their way home. #neverendingstory#thejourney

Something New of a Point of View

My name is Gregg Allen. I am a new columnist for The Freedom Mercado Message periodical published by Chef Freedom Mercado. I am excited about my contribution and the opportunity to share with and challenge readers on a new perspective.

I plan to bring fresh and thoughtful perspective on a hybrid issue that usually gets very little in- depth consideration. It is the mending of the rift between LGBTs and Christians. I come at it from the standpoint of just because a task is incredibly colossal and seemingly impossible, that doesn’t mean you can’t bring about some measurable understanding, change and impact. This action would tamper down some of the rhetoric and hatred in some individuals who represent these communities.

What makes me believe I have something relevant to say on such a zeigeisty subject? It is because I come from both these two communities and I know them at a level beyond what the average person does who may only know one as “the other,” “the adversary,” or “the enemy.” I know a lot about what motivates their divergent thinking and the rhetoric they perpetuate.

You see, as I said, I come from both communities. I was LGBT before LGBT existed for 14 years officially, and 23 years unofficially altogether. As a Christian I was first introduced casually to Jesus at the age of 8 years old. However, it wasn’t until I left the homosexual lifestyle that my true relationship with Jesus began. And I must confess that that relationship of 24.5 years has developed into a partnership in the last 7 years of my life.

In these many years I have discovered that at its core, at its essence, basically everyone wants the same things in life, even these two disparate groups. It’s just that they have different ways of achieving their desired ends. It is my belief and opinion that should both camps drop their worldly weapons of words and warfare that they both would hear something different, learn something different, even life-changing that would result in a transcendent love and appreciation between the two that they have not heretofore experienced or achieved.

Yes, I am an unapologetic dreamer, and yes I am a believer in the best of humanity, even in the last days and these days of such turmoil and pain. In fact, I venture to believe, and humbly submit, that if it were not for me and people in the world like me, there would not be much hope to hold onto for anyone in this world. Think about it, only the hatred, death, destruction, agony, defeat, and hopelessness of this world accumulated and consolidated to the nth degree with no counterbalance to be aspired to or achieved. How devastating would that be? It is coming. However, while we have a chance, we can find ways to love with abandon and change the world.

As previously alluded to, my goal here is to bring these disparate thinking camps closer together in understanding one another to the point they amicably agree to disagree without all the rancor and animus that their clashes are typically known for in the public. I know this is a herculean feat, but here again just because something seems hard doesn’t mean it is out of our reach or unachievable by any stretch of the imagination.

I was recently asked how being a creative writer, photographer, and chef works for me as an artist. Well, becoming a chef while trying to reconnect with the art community has allowed me to combine my passion for culinary arts and photography. This fusion resonates within my creative endeavors; the blending of flavors in my dishes mirrors the blending of visual elements in art, enhancing each other to create a more impactful experience. It inspires me to continue exploring the interplay of light, texture, and composition in my artistic journey. Written by Freedom Mercado

My Last night remined me In the hustle and bustle of modern life, the quest for meaningful connections often takes a backseat. Yet, the pursuit of friendship and deeper relationships is a fundamental aspect of our human experience. It’s a journey that not only enriches our lives but also brings a sense of fulfillment and joy. Friendship is more than just a social construct; it’s a bond that transcends time and space. True friends are those who stand by us through thick and thin, offering support, understanding, and companionship. They are the ones who celebrate our successes and provide a shoulder to lean on during challenging times. In essence, friendship is about mutual respect, trust, and a shared sense of belonging. #travelblogger #travelingphotographer #travelgram #travelphotography #chef #chefsofinstagram #writer #writingcommunity #writersofinstagram #writerslife #thejourneycontinues #thejourneybegins #thejournal #journeytogether #journeytoself #mylife #mypath #travel #travelingphotographer
